Think about what happens when our favorite football team takes the field on a crisp Sunday afternoon. We don’t just sit there silently. We put on our team jerseys. We jump to our feet, yelling until our voices go hoarse. When they score, the entire stadium erupts in a massive roar of joy. Why? Because we love our team.
Right now, we are sitting in a completely different kind of stadium. This church is our home field. The people around you? This is our team. And the mission we are cheering for doesn’t just last for four quarters—it lasts for eternity.
Think about the incredible plays that happen on this parish field every single week. We see the ultimate victories: parents dedicating their children to growing up in the faith, couples united in holy matrimony, and bread and wine becoming the living Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. We see people deepening their relationship with God and each other. We see our ministries rush out into the community to lift up the poor, the broken, and the lonely.
Just like any team, our parish cannot take the field alone.

A great football team needs resources. They need to keep the lights on in the stadium. They need to maintain the field. They need the right equipment to train the next generation of players. Our parish needs those exact same things. To keep our ministries running, to maintain our church, and to expand our reach, we need every single fan to step off the sidelines and be a part of celebrating what makes us Catholic.
When we look at our Catholic Ministries Appeal, this is our opportunity to buy into the team. Today, Christ is inviting you right onto the field to make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors and friends.
The Diocese of Rochester has a $7,339,000 goal for this year’s CMA. Our parish’s CMA responsibility depends on weekend collections, Mass attendance, number of households, and average household income within our zip code. Because St. Rita is a vibrant and active parish, our share of the appeal has increased to $177,000.
I am confident that we can meet this goal because of the strong parish team that we are. Over the last three years, our weekend collections and attendance are up 23%. People are witnessing the incredible faith, warmth, and hospitality of this parish, and they are choosing to call St. Rita their home. Look around you—our parish roster is growing every single day!
I know every family may not be having a perfect season, but that gives us the opportunity to lift each other up. As a collective team, our parish is blessed and beautifully positioned to both lead and serve.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the unmatched generosity you always show. As we embrace this campaign, I’m asking every person to pray about their contribution to the team.
If we move together, execute with joy, and push forward as one family, we are going to cross that CMA finish line before Christmas!
St. Rita on three... One! Two! Three! ST. RITA!
