“Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the Sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.” ~Luke 1-4

Dear Parishioners and Friends,
This week we are excited to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Education of our young students has always been an important mission since the founding of St. Rita Parish in 1950. Whether a child is in our School, Faith Formation, Sacramental or Confirmation program, our priority has always been to offer the best Catholic education we can. I would like to thank our principal, Mary Ellen Wagner and all of the faculty and staff of our wonderful school who take such pride in fostering a faith-filled environment that helps build strong foundations. I would also like to thank all the parents and parishioners for their continued support and encouragement of our young people.

May God bless you this week!

Fr. Gonyo

Catholic Schools Week 2019
Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic School education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which this year is January 27 - February 2. The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2019 is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”
St. Rita School starts off this celebration with this Sunday’s 9:00am Parish Mass and then again with our School Mass on Tuesday at 9:15am followed by School Tours. Other daily activities are planned for students and/or families during this week. Through these events, St. Rita School celebrates the value our Catholic School education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.
The benefits of a Catholic education have been studied and well-documented. Results show that students who attend Catholic schools receive a challenging, high-quality academic experience in a supportive environment, with an emphasis on Catholic values and college preparation. The self-discipline developed by students, along with learning to accept responsibility and to respect others, work together to create excellent life-long learners.
At SRS, teachers and staff strive to develop the whole student: mind, body, and spirit. Students are well-prepared for both academic and personal success. St. Rita School has provided excellence in Catholic School education for over 50 years and this is our week to celebrate in a special way.
Consider investing in your child’s future with a Catholic School education. Tuition assistance is available to qualifying families. We welcome you to be part of our school community. Come and experience what St. Rita School has to offer!
