"I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect." ~Romans 12
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Next weekend we will have a special second collection to assist the efforts of Catholic Charities in aiding people devastated by the historic flooding in South Texas and Louisiana. This will be a Diocesan and national effort.
Now with September upon us, we have a new season and time to look forward to. But of course, we have to first enjoy eating our Labor Day grilled hot dog! This past week St. Rita school teachers and those from all over our area have been busy preparing for the start of school. This is a time of excitement and opportunity for the whole community. School buses will fill the roads, shiny new books and supplies will be handed out, classrooms will be full of energetic and excited children who will tell tales of summer adventure. Everything will point to the beginning of a great new school year and the changing of seasons. At some time in our life I’m sure we have all experienced this feeling.
Be sure to check the inside of the bulletin this week as we have many fall events set to begin and announcements to be made.
A PARENT’S PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you for the chance to watch my child grow and mature. I am grateful for the joy of helping me fulfill the divine plan you have for him/her. Help my child to adjust to this new time and start of school without undue anxiety. Help him/her see your constant care and love. Give me the ability to offer compassionate parental love, encouragement and wisdom. Bless the teachers of my child, help my child to make good friends, keep them safe, and bless children and parents everywhere. Amen.
May God bless you this week!
