“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” ~Luke 2
Dear Parishioners and Friends;
As we light the fourth and final candle of our Advent Wreath, I’m sure everyone is busy writing cards, shopping, wrapping gifts and planning special meals for their Christmas celebration. Let’s not forget that Christmas is a time of hope and joy at an ever surprising God who loves us enough to send His only Son to live among us and free us from sin and give us the gift of eternal life.
May we try to find a moment to spend in quiet prayer so that we can listen to God speaking to us through John the Baptist, Mary, and Joseph, and take in the many things happening around us. Whatever we do and wherever we travel during this season, may we open our hearts to listen to God’s gentle whisper of hope. As we celebrate Christ's birth, let us rejoice, for Jesus dwells with us.
My gratitude to everyone who has been helping us get ready for Christmas; setting up Christmas trees, decorating the Church, assembling the Nativity scenes and numerous flower arrangements, and to all of our Choirs for preparing beautiful inspirational music for this blessed time of year.
Many thanks to everyone who purchased countless toys and gifts that were donated for our Angel Gift project. Your kindness will bring smiles to the needy children and adults in our area. Hundreds and hundreds of gifts were sorted, matched and distributed to the many charitable agencies. Thanks to all the volunteers and for your generosity in helping to make this happen
Thank you to all who have so generously given to the Catholic Ministries Appeal. As of now our parish is at 75% of our goal. If you have not yet made your gift and would like to - extra pledge cards are available in Church or you can give online at www.dor.org. Whatever you decide, please know that I am personally grateful for your prayers for the success of our appeal.
For everyone returning home to visit family and friends, welcome! May this Christmas Season be one of hope for you and your family. For those staying closer to home – we will see you at Christmas!
May God bless you this week!
