Happy October!
October is the Month of the Holy Rosary
October is filled with many blessings!
- October 1 is the Feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
She is also known as St. Therese, the Little Flower
because she prayed to Jesus in little ways.
- October 2 is the Feast of Our Guardian Angels
- October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
Did you know he created the first 'living creche'
to help people understand the story fo Jesus's birth?
- October 7 is the Feast of the Holy Rosary.
- October 31 is Halloween.
Just as Jack-o-Lanterns light up our way when trick-or-treating,
the candle inside the Jack-o-Lantern is Jesus lighting our way!
When you enjoy donuts and donut holes this season,
remember - 'Jesus fills the hole in our soul'!
Suggestions for this month:
- When asking your child about school, ask questions that cannot be answered with a "Yes or No".
- Set a timer if homework is taking too long. See if they can 'beat' their time next time.
- Let your child see YOU reading. We have DEAR time every day. Everyone will 'Drop Everything And Read'. Better yet, read with your child. Model fluency and expression. Stop and discuss what is happening in the story. Can they predict what will happen next?
