Welcome to Mrs. Smith's Music Class!
Here at St. Rita's School, we learn about all the different aspects to music both in and out of the classroom. Guided by a deep appreciation of the past, we study the great composers of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Modern, and Contemporary music. We also learn about folk music, the orchestra, and how to use different instruments. The students learn basic music theory and notation. Students can also tap into their creative side and try their hand at composing and improvising.
At St. Rita's School, we believe that life is a stage!
As such, students at St. Rita's have many opportunities to perform on stage and learn valuable skills in public speaking. All grades sponsor a school mass and also perform in different liturgies and events throughout the year. Also, grades K-5 participate in a school production every year. All students are given the opportunity to speak and sing on stage.
"Singing is Praying Twice."
~St. Augustine
"Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with lute and harp! Praise Him with tambourine and dance; Praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Psalm 150:1-6
