St Rita Wins American Heart Association Challenge
In order to keep children healthy and active, the American Heart Association developed a new initiative, the Heart Walk & Run Child Health Challenge.
The American Heart Association selected 25 local schools, including St. Rita School, to participate and asked them to make a video showing why they could use new PE equipment. Mr. Mutrie created a video with help from the entire school. Four winners were chosen out of the 25 video submissions and WE WERE ONE OF THEM!

Welcome to Kindergarten!
We are a class filled with Kindergarten leaders! Each day we try our best to be role models for each other as we learn and play. There is a lot to learn in Kindergarten, but we have a lot of fun, too! The Superkids curriculum for English Language Arts utilizes songs, characters, and stories to help build foundational phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills. Our Math Expressions curriculum is great for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners as it teaches us multiple strategies and number sense at an appropriate pace for all learners. We also have strong social studies and science programs, including a rotating science presentation platform for all students to share an experiment with the rest of the class: Kindergarten Scientist!
At St. Rita's, we also offer a strong catholic education for our students. We begin our Kindergarteners' faith journey with the program Sharing Stories of God's Love, and the school-wide anti-bullying program, Olweus. Kindergarten is about creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for children, so they can learn to love school. We cultivate this atmosphere with:
Quality Children's Literature for Read Alouds
Kindergarten at St. Rita's is safe, rigorous, and fun!
