~Feburary 3 is the Feast of St. Blaise~

Blaise was a good and kind Bishop of Sebaste in Armenia (Turkey) who had to go to a secluded place because the governor pesecuted Christians.  Blaise would heal the sick, even whild animals.  One day hunters discovered Blaise praying and brought him to the governor.  On the way to prison, a woman rushed up to him begging him to save her child who was choking on a fishbone.  Blaise prayed for the child.  The miracle saved the child's life.  St. Blaise is the patron of those who suffer from afflictions of the throat or who are ill.

On February 3, a Blessing of Throats,

following the Feast of the Presentation and the Commemoration of St Blaise,

is offered after Mass.

How are these Holy Days connected to AIS?

God wants us to be kind to one another, do our best, and be happy.

At St. Rita, we help all students learn the 4 Rs (Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic, and Religion) ...

Mary and the Saints are our role models to say "Yes" to God.

February is a 'short' month, but it can be packed with lots of fun ways to help your child use 'real world' everyday experiences to learn and practice reading, writing, and math skills: as you read WITH your child, model expression and enunciation; write a postcard to a relative; count change; count how much time until you have to go somewhere, or until dinner, or until bedtime; use a timer to clock how long it takes your child to complete homework; ...

By the way... did the groundhog see his shadow?

Groundhog Day is February 2

The Winter Olypics begins February 4

What a wonderful way to talk about geography!  This year we even have enough snow to go out and enjoy some winter sports!
