About the Teacher...

I decided that I wanted to be a teacher when I was in third grade.  Amazingly enough, I never once considered another profession.  I think it's because my own school experience was so positive.  I've had wonderful Catholic school teachers who have inspired me, both academically and spiritually, throughout my own education.  I attended Good Shepherd School in Henrietta from first grade through eighth grade, then attended Our Lady of Mercy for high school.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1991 from SUNY at Geneseo.  I was very lucky to get a job right out of college when teaching jobs were few and far between.  I taught at St. Josephat's (now closed) from 1991 - 1997.  During that time, I also worked on my Master's degree.  I received my Master's Degree from Nazareth College in May of 1997.   It turns out that 1997 was a busy year for me.  On December 23rd,  I was blessed with my daughter, Cassie.  I decided to take some time off from teaching to be a mom.

Three years later, when I was ready to go back to work, I interviewed at 2 different schools.  One had a daycare on site (which was very appealing, since I would need childcare for my daughter), and the other was St. Rita.  I'm not sure exactly what it was about St. Rita that I fell in love with that first day.  Sister Katherine Ann (our former principal) took me on a tour of the school herself after my interview.  I was impressed by so many things ... the friendly atmosphere, the smiling faces, and the genuine warmth!  Clearly, this was a place that valued children.  St. Rita just felt right.  I chose St. Rita, and never once regretted my decision. St. Rita is home.

I have had the pleasure of teaching at St. Rita since September of 2001.  In my opinion, there is no better school. Perhaps the best illustration of this is that I chose to send my own daughter to St. Rita when she was ready to enter kindergarten.  Cassie has graduated from St. Rita and just finished her education with a degree in Graphic Design from SUNY Brockport.  She is currently working at St. Rita as a preschool assistant.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can help you in any way.  I am looking forward to working with each of you during the school year.
